About Ray Seggern

As a member of the worldwide Wizard Of Ads® Group, Ray Seggern focuses specifically on helping grow owner-operated companies, working with them directly and also through his One Man Brand curriculum.

photo-of-ray-large.jpgSeggern was hired in 2004 by Wizard Of Ads Group founder Roy H. Williams, who penned the best-selling trilogy of business books bearing the same name. Seggern spent two years at the home office as a consultant, working day-to-day as the key liaison to the Wizard’s own clients. In 2006, Seggern accepted Williams’ offer to segue from employee to partner in the organization.

"In my time at the [W.O.A.] home office I learned so much," Seggern said. "The opportunity to work alongside Roy [Williams, the Wizard] and all the talented people there has made me much stronger as a strategist and a writer. It really equipped me to head out on my own and to feel confident as I started my own autonomous operation inside the larger group."

Prior to joining the Wizard Of Ads, Seggern spent over a decade in the broadcasting industry as an on-air announcer, music director and marketing director at radio stations in Austin, TX and Tulsa, OK.

He also boasts a diverse background in the "real world," ranging from humble beginnings as a concert promoter to a stint as editor/publisher running a weekly newspaper. He was also a manager at Austin’s "Ice Rink At Northcross Mall," where he learned to drive a Zamboni.

"I think I got the skills to do this straight from my parents," Seggern says. "My dad ran his own fleet of six dumptrucks, so my entrepreneurial leanings started there. Mom was a high-school English teacher

In addition traveling across North America to present his One Man Brand lectures, Seggern works on an ongoing basis directly with a select list of a dozen businesses in California, Nevada, New York, Texas, Oregon and Maritime Canada (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island). He oversees all aspects of their marketing and branding strategies, including copywriting, media research, web development, word-of-mouth and social networking strategies.

He also works as a co-strategist with other Wizard Of Ads partners for their clients, and is available for hire on short-term projects. These range from one-day consulting sessions to work with non-profit organizations and progressive political candidates. He designates a portion of each year to do speaking and consulting work on a pro-bono basis.

Although he no longer works in the radio world full-time, he still hosts a weekly radio show on Austin alternative rock radio station 101X, where his Chillville program was recently voted "Best Radio Music Program" by readers of The Austin Chronicle.

"Heading into my fifth year of doing this full-time, developing this One Man Brand platform is my real passion," he concludes. "This allows me to put my fingerprints on far more businesses than I could on a one-to-one basis alone.

"I believe that in these ever-volatile times, it’s now more important than ever that owner-operated and family-owned businesses flourish in the face of competition from outfits controlled by Wall Street. As such, I have made it my life’s mission to help the ‘little man’ survive and thrive in the modern economy."
